Florida Gun Rights Restoration 
Florida law allows for the restoration of the right to own, possess, or use firearms for those convicted of a felony offense in a Florida state court. The petition must be filed in the Florida Office of Executive Clemency. There is a waiting period of eight years from the date your sentence expired or your supervision was terminated and you do not have any outstanding detainers, or any pecuniary penalties or liabilities which total more than $1,000 and resulted from any criminal conviction or traffic infraction. Also, you must have both your gun rights and civil rights (which include your right to vote, serve on a jury, and hold public office) in order to be able to own and possess a firearm. However, not all offenders lose their civil rights.
Firearm rights restoration can take several years to be decided on by the Clemency Board. The courts operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
